“You should join a Thunderbird Club!”  After seeing a string of colorful sports cars cruising down the Natchez Trace Parkway, a relative commented to one of our founding members, “You should join a Thunderbird Club.”  However, searching on the web for a T-Bird club in the Nashville area only turned up one club, and it restricted membership to owners of “classic” Thunderbirds, ’55 – ’57 models.  An email sent to another middle Tennessee T-Bird owner sparked the idea of starting a new club with the only restriction being that members must be Thunderbird enthusiasts. 

“TNT Birds . . . We’re dynamite!”  Our club, the Tennessee Thunderbird Club, also known as TNT Birds, started with three founding families in early June of this year (2006) and has added four more families as of early July with several more in queue.  We are working on building our membership and welcome all T-Bird lovers to visit our website www.tntbirds.com.  Our Club was established so that T-Bird enthusiasts can gather for car talk, car cruises, drive-in movies, picnics, holidays and other fun events.  We are a family oriented club dedicated to the enjoyment of our T-Birds regardless of the year or model.

Our first event was a cruise down the Natchez Trace Parkway on a glorious spring day.  You know what it’s like, the sun warm on your face, the wind in your hair, and music floating from your radio.  But, we had an added bonus of having another beautiful T-Bird next to us as we wound down that scenic trail.  It was such a relaxing drive that as our membership grows, we feel certain it’s an event we are destined to repeat.  July/August events include drive-in movies, a local car show in southeastern Tennessee and attending the International Thunderbird Club convention in North Carolina.  Keep your eye on our club, the TNTBirds, we plan to make it one of the best in the Southeast.
