Sight Seeing in Cedarburg, Wisconsin

Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a beautifully old-fashioned historical place. Visitors have commented on how great it is for a getaway filled with a setting of natural beauty and opportunities to go antiquing and shopping. You might think you have traveled in a time capsule instead of your T-bird to the town that maintains its limestone and famous Milwaukee cream brick buildings. Unique features to be found in Cedarburg are specialty shops and galleries filled with treasures of antiques, jewelry, art, toys, and pottery. If this sounds appealing to you, you may just want to include the tour to Cedarburg in your plans for this years ITC Convention.

The Cedarburg Woolen Mill Shops and Textile museum contains a complete line of fabrics, yarns, books, patterns, and supplies. Imagine custom-made quilts, comforters, and pillows. Visit the working textile museum with custom wool carding on original 1860s machinery. See the antique spinning wheels & looms.

Creekside Books gives you a chance to take a few moments of relaxation in easy chairs. Find a book that captures your attention while you enjoy the complimentary coffee, juice and cookies. Perhaps you will find a token to mark your escapade.

Downtown Dough owns the largest variety of cookie cutters in the Midwest. There are over 1, 300 shapes in addition to an amazing selection of sprinkles, colored sugars, and other decorating items. You will find many baking tools and gift items, including about 150 cookie jars, salt & pepper sets, ceramic bowls, and of course the gourmet treats. This shop has been featured in Good Housekeeping magazine.

If you are looking for something a little more on the earthy side, pay a visit to the Gem Shop. The shop boasts a reputation of having a true lapidary (someone who cuts, polishes, and engraves precious stones). Come & dig through 50 tons of rough rock in the rock yard and basement.

The Cedar Creek winery accommodates a tour of one of America’s most noted regional wineries. Taste and enjoy the award-winning wines from fine delicate whites to rich, robust reds. A variety of special, seasonal vintages are also available.

Lastly, the final destination on the tour will be to Wayne’s Drive In. Whether you take the Milwaukee Art Museum tour, or the Cedarburg tour, this is where everyone will meet up for a fun dinner. At Wayne’s, you can step back in time when you were waited on by roller-skating carhops serving up famous char-broiled burgers and specialty treats of Cedar Crest Premium ice cream. Inside Wayne’s, you will take a step or two back to the time of the 1950s with a classic juke box and paraphernalia of the era.
